  Forming part of the world famous Gentilini vineyard and winery, which has been in the same family since the 1770's, the Retreat offers a tranquil rural escape for those seeking a different perspective on Cephalonia. Set in a private estate with a freshwater swimming pool and designed for maximum peace and privacy, it is the perfect place in which to unwind; it is a children-pet-television-music-free zone. For the same reason there is no provision for self catering, either in the rooms or elsewhere on the estate. Entirely for the private enjoyment of residents, together with occasional estate workers, there are 20 acres covered in cypress and olive trees, some of which are over 500 years old, to enjoy - breathe deeply air filled with the fragrances of thyme, lavender and fig trees. The estate has its own herb garden, organic vegetable patch it also produces honey, olive oil and, of course, the world famous Gentilini wine, in the winery and vineyards to which guests receive privileged access and hospitality.

Six double rooms, each with private entrance and ample outside space, are spread out in two groups over the estate. Each air-conditioned room has a refrigerator, kettle and breakfast cutlery and crockery for two. The en suite shower-rooms have a hairdryer and shaving point and mosquito screens are on all openings and a mosquito machine is provided. The rooms are cleaned daily and linen is changed twice a week.

A well-stocked, complimentary welcome basket is provided upon arrival and guests may order a picnic basket a day in advance to enjoy at the estate or take with them as they explore the island.

Walking, reading and quiet meditation are the order of the day here yet the sandy beaches of the west coast and Argostoli are just a 15 minute drive away. The nearest taverna is a 5 minute drive or a relaxing 25 minute stroll from the Retreat and the area offers a wealth of fascinating villages and monasteries to explore.

The price includes:

The swimming pool is set apart from the rooms to ensure privacy and quiet, and is for the exclusive use of guests.
An honesty bar operates at the swimming pool.
A well-stocked, complimentary welcome basket is provided upon arrival.
Daily cleaning & linen changed twice each week but please note that beach towels are not provided.
Taxi transfers to and from The Gentilini Retreat and Cephalonia airport based on a maximum four adults sharing.
For our guests travelling as a couple who prefer their own private taxi for their transfers we will be pleased to arrange this.
The supplement for the journeys to and from your accommodation on this basis is £40.00.
