The riding school located in Sami offers facilities for all. Learing to ride, improving your skills or simply enjoying yourself. Mountain trails to beach riding and swimming with the horses.

Festivals

The festival of Saint Gerasimos (the patron Saint of Kefalonia) takes place every August. People lie in the path of the procession carrying his sarcophagus as it is tradition that healing is given to people who allow the sarcophagus to pass over them.

“…it is a beautiful, stunning and traditional island.”

The Festival of Epiphany takes place in January all over Greece. The priest blesses the waters by throwing a cross into the sea, lake or river and young men brave the cold and compete to retrieve it. These days, the cross is generally attached to a long rope, just in case that year's crop of divers are left wanting . After the diving, local fishermen bring their boats to be blessed by the priest. Epiphany is also called the Phota or Fota, in reference to the day being a Feast of Light. It is definitely still a traditional holiday, performed by Greeks for themselves

Wine and vine

Wine is a very important industry and Kefalonia is very famous for its Robola wine. Kefalonia is the only Ionian island to have been granted 'Appellation of Origin' for its wine, and apart from Robola it also prides itself on it's Muscat and Mavrodaphne. Tours to the vinyards and winetastings are available. Please contact us for more details.
