Aghia EfmiaProbably the most legendary of all Greek islands, Ithaca is still one of the least known. Beautiful and still unspoiled by tourism, the island of Odysseus is only a short distance from Cephalonia. These islands are undoubtedly the jewels of the Ionian.

Ithaca is the second smallest and the most under-developed island in the Ionian. Here you will find a special magic at every turn. Beauty reigns supreme throughout. In the trees and mountains. In the impossibly blue sea. And in every little village with their brightly coloured blue doors and rough walls lost under countless layers of whitewash. Nestling under stunning sunsets. Days are slow and tranquil. Life is unhurried and pleasure is found in the most simple of pastimes.

“Ithaca is beautiful, everything we wanted it to be…. magnificent…peaceful relaxation”

“Thank you very much for making our holiday so special, we will certainly be back for more.”

The Ionian Sea off IthacaOne thing you can never escape in Ithaca is the sea. From virtually any vantage point, the sea is visible in one, two or even three directions. Ithaca is fringed by lovely white pebbly beaches, many of which can only be reached by sea. Hire a little boat from Kioni or Frikes and you may find yourself on your own private hideaway. A clean fragrant bay lapped by the warm, gentle water of the placid Ionian Sea.

Holiday accommodation - apartment exteriorItems found on Ithaca go back as far as 4000 BC and by Mycenaean times, a kingdom comprising Cephalonia, Zakinthos, Lefkas and part of the Peloponnesian coast was established with Ithaca as its capital. It was under Odysseus that this kingdom reached its prime sending 12 ships to the Trojan War.

Ithaca's lack of tourists, its mythological past and its outstanding natural beauty make it an island not to be missed. A peaceful and traditional Greek island, with friendly villagers and sparsely populated beaches.

For our holiday accommodation in Ithaca, we have chosen two beautiful settings, each typifying the special beauty and tranquillity of this mythical island.

“What can we say but Perfect …Well done and keep up the good work.”
